The second event in my 2024 road trip journey started on a sad note.
After the Bentonville tornado I had to bid farewell to my much-loved 4Runner. That’s right, the insurance company totaled her and I had to watch as they carted her away on a flatbed. She was less than three years old – we were just getting to know each other!
My 4Runner’s understudy was called into the spotlight to serve as transportation until I could find a replacement. The Lexus GX 460 will suit me well on the road. It can do anything my old truck could, but it will never replace her.
I loaded up the GX with all I needed for the next major leg of the journey. Bikes, tools, and Aspen!
St. George is located about 7 hours drive west of Durango. Located in southwest Utah, it features several riding areas. I’ll be staying in the nearby town of Hurricane – that’s where the famed Gooseberry Mesa is located.
