Leaving the Sedona Mountain Bike Festival in March of 2022 was sweet sorrow, but I had a lot to look forward to! I was heading south to Meza, AZ to ride Hawes; a trail system run by the Hawes Trail Network. This non-profit has dedicated itself to the development and maintenance of dozens of miles of trails near Mesa, Arizona, just east of Phoenix.
The alliance works hard to create trails that harmonize with the terrain. There is a lot of plant and animal life here in the desert that needs to be protected from the impact of humans, and the folks at Hawes Trail Alliance make it a priority to place the importance of the land first.
The result of this effort is a system of trails that is fun, challenging, and beautiful.
